Three hats two too many

Andrew Little couldn’t give a better example of why being Labour Party president, national secretary of the EPMU and a would-be Labour MP means he’s wearing two hats too many:

But on TV3’s The Nation this morning, Mr Little seemed to be at odds with Labour Party Leader Phil Goff’s position on whether workers should be able to cash in their fourth week of annual leave.

Mr Goff has said he is relaxed about it, Mr Carter considered that a flip-flop and wrote his now infamous letter.

Today, Mr Little ruled it out.

“There will be no tradeability of the fourth week of annual leave,” he said.

That is a valid comment from a unionist but a party president and would-be MP should leave any comments on policy to the leader and caucus.

Disputing the leader’s comments on party funds isn’t helpful either:

But he denied Mr. Carter’s allegations that the party was short of money.

“As the president of the party I get the monthly financial reports…I know what the state of the parties finances are in, they are very healthy.”

Especially when he contradicts himself a few sentences earlier (07.58)

“We’ve been paying back debt from the last election . . .

Still being in debt from the last election when we’re at least half way to the next one doesn’t sound like the party finances are particularly healthy.

Oh! Come on!! A bit harsh! The US national debt is $13 trillion and they are apparently in reasonably good nick given they continue to pay CEOs, EEOs, simple EOs, directors etc. disgustingly exorbitant salaries and/or fees! And they probably aren’t repaying anything, so by comparison the Labour Party is tickety-boo!

    HP.

You have to understand that the largest percentage of Liabour voters, vote according to their parents..

Manukau will remain a Liabour strong hold for as long as welfare feeds them..

Manukau was at one time a very pleasant place to live.. Check the property adverts from the 70’s..

Whilst the Nats support the largest amount of Grog Shops per head of population in NZ the trouble will continue..

Yes we do have obese people all over NZ.. Check out the proportion in South Auckland..

    Disgusting… Absolutely disgusting..
    Courtesy Welfare.

Schools .. Decile one.. Some people in the area work their butt off to help.. and good for them..

    Most could not care less…

NZ is known as the ” Land of FREE Money ” to many new arrivals..

JK has to up his performance in the Ayn Rand tradition.

Adam I have difficulty following you.

I am not sure how you can blame the current NACT government for:

    1. The number of Grog shops in South Auckland – I am sure a lot were opened between 1999 and 2008.
    2. Welfare dependency – that is due to the indoctrination of the left since the 1960’s. Again the last Labour Government wanted people to be dependent on them – hence WFF.
    3. Obesity – surely that is solely personal responsibility. My doctor describes me as `moderately obese’. There is only one person at fault with that – me – well and my wifes wonderful cooking over 40 plus years.

Having said all of that I am unsure about its relevance to the original post.
