Cachexia – weakness and wasting of the body due to severe chronic illness; a state of severe malnutrition characterised by anorexia, weight loss, and muscle wasting; a “wasting” disorder that causes extreme weight loss and muscle wasting, and can include loss of body fat; loss of body weight and muscle mass, and weakness that may occur in patients with cancer, AIDS, or other chronic diseases.
