Long before food processors were invented, my mother had a vitamizer which chopped, pureed and made wonderful, thick milk shakes.
We’d freeze milk, tip it into the vitamizer, occasionally we’d add fresh fruit, but more often than not it would be something consisting of sugar and artificial flavour and whizz it up until it was literally thick enough to stand a spoon in.
By the time we married, food processors which did everything the old vitamizer did and more, featured in most kitchens and we were given one as a wedding present. It became one of my most-used gadgets and when it died was quickly replaced.
I’m now on my third although since I’m not cooking for staff every day it doesn’t have to work as hard as its predecessors but it is still used often and I’m grateful for it.
