 Designed by: Kevin Lynch

2 ISLANDS, 1 NATION is a design that brings together all the unifying aspects of our great country while still respecting the history of a previous flag. This design represents the 2 islands, The North Island (top Koru), the long white cloud (angled line) and the South Island (bottom Koru). The colours are a tribute to the previous flag but also represent sky (blue) and the land (red).

These three are most popular today:

Whakapehapeha (#3276)

By Paul.

Basis is bringing together traditions of Southern Cross and more recent Tino Rangatiratanga symbols (reversed to reflect long white cloud or sea, as well as a fern) – but adopting new colour (green) uses in neither to symbolise our land and new beginnings.

Aotearoa Unity (#2160)

Designed by: Phillip Bannister

This design is a unification of all the cultures that make up Aotearoa, the colours of Tino Rangatiratanga and the strength and uniquely kiwi symbolism of the koru. The Southern Cross is retained from our current flag so this design represents the past as well as the future for our great nation.
