Retcon – to revise retrospectively (an aspect of a fictional work or series), typically by means of a revelation which imposes a different interpretation on previously described events;  a piece of new information, in a film, television series, or other fictional work, that imposes a different interpretation on previously described events, typically used to facilitate a dramatic plot shift or account for an inconsistency; a literary device in which the form or content of a previously established narrative is changed.
