365 days of gratitude

The first Mothers’ Day after we married I was the only woman who wasn’t a mother in our family so hosted Sunday lunch for the clan.

My mother-in-law’s birthday always fell near Mothers’ Day, later that of one of our sons did too and the combined celebrations became an annual occurrence.

These days Mothers’ Day tends to be quieter which gives me time to remember my own mother and the friend’s mother who became my second one.

There’s also time to reflect on the blessing of being a mother, and enjoy being appreciated for that.

Today I’m grateful for the mothers who have been and are still in my life, and for being a mother.
