I’m interested in stereotypes at this minute

The answers to questions 1 thru 4 involve Jews in literature

    1) The Prioress’s Tale from Chaucer the Canterbury tale

    2) Shylock from Shakespeare’s “The Merchant of Venice”

    3) Yankel is a Jewish merchant in Golgols “Taras Bulba”

    4) Is Fagan from “Oliver Twist ” based on a notorious contemporary Jewish criminal operating in London

    5) Jeremy Corbyn was accused of being an anti- Semite after someone trawled through his facebook pages and found he had expressed support for a mural painter accused of antisemitism way back in 2012 for including three famous Jewish Bankers in his mural among three other non Jewish historical figures. It seemed thin gruel and those doing the shouting of accusations of this nature remind me of a lynch mob rather than engaging in honest political debate

Of course literature of full of stereotypes and comedy relies upon them

Am English movie of the moment is the dark comedy “The Death of Stalin” English actors haming it up with over the top Russian stereotypes though some of the protagonists are Georgians but Georgian stereotypes are unfamiliar to Western Audiences
