Oud – a form of lute or mandolin played principally in Arab countries; a dark, fragrant resin from the wood of the tropical Agar (Aquilaria) tree highly valued as an ingredient in perfume.

    I love the sound of the oud – especially when it is deployed to play music in non Western scales but that is not to everyone’s taste

    Anyway while ago I introduced you to the modern Scottish composition the Gael played as I recall by an American military band

    Anyway you have given me an excuse to give you an Arab version of the Gael (The Last of the Mohicans) on the Oud
