Feeling pensive? – a beautiful sad song

    Not for me comes spring,
Not for me the Don flows.
There is a girl’s heart filled
With delightful feelings – not for me.

Not for me do gardens flower,
In the valley, a grove blooms,
    There, a nightingale meets spring,
He will sing – not for me.

    Not for me flow streams,
    Murmuring diamond brooks,
There is a maiden with black eyebrows,
She grows – not for me.

    Not for me comes Easter,
At the table all my relatives will gather,
“Christ has risen” will pour from their lips,
Easter day is not for me.

Not for me the flowers bloom,
The fragrant rose will fade its color,
Pick a flower and it will wilt
Such a life is not for me.

For me there is a piece of lead,
Which will dig into my white body,
And bitter tears will be shed.
Such a life, brother, waiting for me.

Trumps’ election has reduced East West tensions more than any other time in history, an astonishing first achievement for a President Elect, is he going to get a Noble Peace Prize ??

Trumps’ election has reduced East West tensions more than any other time in history…

It’s a bit premature to call that but the signs are hopeful

Vladimir Putin was the first national leader to congratulate Donald Trump – I’ll put his telegram in a subsequent comment

What worries me is that there are vested interests with a stake in tensions remaining high and they may pull some stunt to tie DC’s hands and sabotage the opportunity before inauguration

This could come in Ukraine, the Baltic, the South Caucasus or most likely Syria.

But the chances of Trump or Putin winning a Nobel Peace Prize are not good whatever they achieve

    Dear Mr. Trump,

Accept my sincere congratulations on the occasion of your victory in the United States of America’s presidential elections.

I look forward to working with you toward the normalization of Russian-American relations from their current state of crisis and to addressing the pressing issues on the international agenda and searching for effective responses to global security challenges.

I am convinced that building a constructive dialogue between Moscow and Washington based on principles of equality, mutual respect and taking into account our respective strategic interests addresses the interests of our peoples and the world community.

I wish you good health, prosperity and success in your responsibilities as head of state.

    Vladimir Putin
