Gravedodger answered the first 3 so can I claim the virtual carrot cake?
All these questions came from one book that I have just read. It is one of Simon Winchester’s latest book “Pacific the Ocean of the Future”. His books are so good, well researched and written. I would recommend any of them. I have done a number of quiz questions from these books. Subjects range from the Atlantic & Pacific Oceans to the Oxford English Dictionary, geology and map making and South Korea

    1. What did Akio Morita and Masaru Ibuka create?
    The Transistor Radio

    2. What was the name of the corporation that they founded?

    3. What sport is George Freeth considered to be the “godfather” of?

    4. “I am the Rider of the wind the Stirrer of the storm” is a piece from what?

  2. Gravedodger says:

You are on a roll Teletext, can I add the legend to your 5 answer that has Parnell arriving in Petone with a fellow immigrant wanting carpenter and joiner Parnell and asking Sam to build a business premises and good old Sam declining to work more than 40 hours a week and his patron forced to accept because of a severe dearth of options elsewhere.

  3. J Bloggs says:

Even though it’s almost a week late, I’ll give the answers, although the team got them all between them. (I loved my weekend in the Cardrona valley, and can’t wait for the next opportunity to go back)

    2) Speights

    3) The Race to the Sky

    4) Bra’s (they are still there, a bit up the road, on a fence leading to the Cardrona distillery)
