366 days of gratitude

When cooking at home I take for granted a lot of the tools I use.

The grater, for example.

I use it several times a week, mainly for cheese but also for carrots, sometimes other vegetables and less frequently for things like chocolate or the rind of citrus fruit.

While grating cheese for a soufle today I wondered who had invented it.

Google provided the answer.

Today I’m grateful for François Boullier who invented the grater in the 1540s.
