366 days of gratitude

Extended family and friends, about 70 in number,  met at Dunedin railway station today to be serenaded by a bagpiper before climbing onto the Taieri Gorge train for an afternoon of fun in celebration of an 80th birthday.

When the train returned to Dunedin we walked to the Duke of Wellington before repairing to the birthday aunt’s home for more food and fun.

While the aunt was explaining to a friend who was who and from whence they came, she said, “and the Oamaru ones are particularly good at family.”

She’s right, we are and for that and a very happy day I’m grateful.
