1. He was a Byzantine Emperor who managed to postpone for a bit the stagnation which seems to be the usual fate of empires. (looking at you Europe)
2. Based on the rest of the questions, I’d say the crusades.
3. He was a monk of some sort who went around stirring up support for the first crusade. Which went ok I guess.
4. Presumably the First Crusade or one of the less successful ones. I don’t think it was the bizarre Children’s Crusade but it’s possible. Astonishing event,what were they thinking?
