    A great book published in 1841 and still in print “Extraordinary Popular Delusions and the Madness of Crowds” by Charles Mackay examines fads, scares and panics, economic bubbles and so forth that the author was familiar with.

    A good read and it is interesting to compare his examples with those we see infecting our culture and discourse today.

    The thread below on the sea level rise would exemplify at least one of the phenomena Charles Mackay described more than 170 years ago
