For stubborn lids

J Bloggs has been offering suggestions in the Friday’s answers post for tools to open jars with stubborn lids, neither of which are like the one I have.

I don’t know how to get a photo in a comment so here’s what I mean:

When you squeeze the bottom arm it allows you to adjust the size of the grip.

Cool. I’ve not seen one of those in my travels, but I see how it works. Something else to put in my toolbox of handy aides. Thanks for sharing.

I’ve got a nifty one thats shaped like a kids catapault.. you just push the lid into the Y shape until the blunt serrated edges grab it. The lids remain servicable for further bottling and sealing.

You can buy them at various disability stores around the country.. Life Unlimited in our area.

If no aid is available a smart snap of the lid onto a firm surface either benchtop or solid board can make opening easier, as an alternative can involve putting the inverted stubborn lid into very hot water for a few seconds.
