Does anyone with a love of the land, a respect for nature, an abiding belief that toil will develop the world we all live in seriously think home grown philosophy such as delivered in that video will ever be delivered in a lecture theater or in a living room via modern media or even a wireless.
    I don’t think so.

You are showing your age GD as everybody under thirty knows food comes shrink wrapped on polystyrene trays freely accessible from the super market chiller.

There is no need to get dirt under your finger nails in the 21st century

In defense of most people under thirty – I am as certain that they do know where food originates from as I am that Andrei visits the supermarket shelves from time to time.

There is a need to get dirt under your fingernails – even more of a need given that our food is often sterilized for long keeping on those shelves. Research is beginning to show the connection between gut flora and obesity. In time it will show that the physical activity from gardening is not the only benefit.

GD, I’m pleased my kids know where eggs, meat and veges come from. We don’t produce all our own food but we get a good supply from our land. When I tell them it’s time to do their chores (mainly feeding & watering animals) the cry’s of ‘Dad you’ve ruined my life’ make me smile.
