D-Day landing sites then and now

The Huffington Post has several photos of D-Day landing spots mixing then and now.

One Response to D-Day landing sites then and now

  1. Andreip[ says:

D-Day was the generic term used for the date on which an operation started with H-Hour being the time of day for “kick-off”

The actual name for campaign Western European campaign was “Operation Overlord” with the opening salvo (now known as D-Day) being “Operation Neptune” that being the cross channel invasion of Normandy

But the press picked up on D-Day at the time and that has stuck.

    Just an historical oddity
