From Janet Frame’s home

Once a year I am rostered for duty at Janet Frame’s home, 56 Eden Street, Oamaru.

Today has been very quiet – just one other volunteer dropping off a message and the neighbour’s cat, Violet, have popped in.

Here’s a glimpse of some of what the hordes who aren’t coming would see:

    Is that a cast iron stove in an old fireplace? The woodwork is beautiful.

    Yes, I think it is cast iron. My grandfather had one like that in his kitchen. One of my student flats had a newer model, painted green.

    Yes the woodwork is beautiful – call in when you’re in open, it’s usually open from 2 – 4 from November to April.
