    An update on Matthew Hooten and cv padding. As I commented on the “More CV questions” post, Matthew Hooten’s own promotional material needs updating. Since I made that comment on Friday evening , one particular statement Mr Hooten made on his exceltium page has been shown to look rather like a lie.

    “He maintains excellent connections with senior levels of all of New Zealand’s political parties, including regular contact with both the Prime Minister and Leader of the Opposition and the chiefs of staff of the National, Labour, Green, Maori and ACT parties.”

    The ‘excellent connections” with the Leader of the Opposition is clearly a ridiculous claim after his rant on Nine to Noon last week, but please note Mr Hooten claims to have regular contact with the chief of staff of the Greens. The Green party chief of staff however, contradicts this claim in the following comment posted on the

    For the record, I have been the Green Party’s chief of staff for nearly six years and Mr Hooton has made no attempt to contact me that I am aware of.
