The school decided to cancel the event, not the mother.

A solo mother has to fulfil the roles of both mother and father in relation to her child. That some women would want to go, and that they could not be discriminated against on the basis of gender, is an entirely predictable outcome that could have been considered and planned for in advance by the school.

It is sad that the event was cancelled. But it is an assumption that the men wouldn’t open up if a woman was present. Why could they have not used breakout sessions etc? They could have put the woman in break-out groups with the gay Dads who would like not have an issue with her presence.

What a silly and misleading headline. The single mother didn’t block anything – the group’s misogynist prejudice did.

Incidentally, men who can’t “open up and chat” around someone who happens to be a woman sound pretty scary to me.

So, when I first created the Non-Blog, I didn’t think I would be posting any regular series. However, I just wrapped up the first month of a new series called Gender and Sex Around the World! Here’s my latest post in the series!

I discuss marriage, heterosexuality, homosexuality, sex education, and lots of other interesting issues!

I’ll be covering Argentina in June, and I’d be happy to see if I could cover NZ in July 😉 I would have to draw from another source (the encyclopedia I’m using doesn’t include NZ), but if you folks would be interested I would make the special effort!

Meanwhile, here’s a great little quiz on U.S. politics: (The main two parties here are Democrats and Republicans, the former supposedly being liberal and the latter supposedly being conservative.)

    Have a beautiful Sunday!
