This reminds me of babies. My nephew was the first baby I ever really held. He was only 6 pounds but after about five minutes my arms were tired and I was ready to give him back to his mother.
My own babies didn’t sleep when put down during the day. Even the car trick didn’t work for my daughter. The only way to get them to sleep was holding and carrying. People used to claim that my wee girl would never learn to walk. But I’m not still carrying her, so unsurprisingly, she did.
