Back when TV was introduced to South Africa, my dad was counsel to Phillips, and so we got one of the first TVs- and VCRs, as well as about twenty videos, one of which was “Fiddler on the Roof”; my parents hosted parties at which the entertainment was seeing a five minute test broadcast and then watching a video.
