It’s easy to sheet responsibility for children born into welfare dependency on to their mothers.
But Social Development Minister Paula Bennett points out the other half of the equation:
Ms Bennett said there were men in the benefit system who had fathered numerous children, but they escaped much of the criticism. Some had up to eight children to different mothers – and even if they were employed they could not afford child support.
“We talk about teen mums a lot and yes, they are left with the babies. But you hear of older men with multiple children and they actually prey on young women as well,” Ms Bennett said. “I’m not sure we actually identify that as the problem that it is.”
Every man, of any age, who fathers a child for whom he doesn’t take emotional and financial responsibility is a large part of the problem of welfare dependency and poverty.

This is why the institution of marriage came into existence, I would say was God given.
But silly Liberals have spent years undermining it with things like “no fault divorce” and the latest monstrosity “Gay Marriage”.
You see if a man and a women are bonded together and it is enshrined in law and custom that they have sexual relations with each other but no other then the parentage of any child born of that union is clear cut and obvious.
And it is simple and fair to oblige the male partner by law and custom to be responsible for the children born of that union.
And the male partner of that union will feel paternal warmth and love towards his offspring and nurture and care for them.
If however you break these bonds and change a mans offspring into nothing but financial liabilities – which is what NZ family law has successfully accomplished by not requiring marriage or any sort of commitment to establish paternity and allowing the dissolution of the marriage bond on a whim – then in the human unhappiness that results all sorts of social pathologies start to manifest themselves.
But I am pissing into the wind trying to explain this – the propaganda of the left has addled the brains of the Western world and the decadent elite are dragging all to hell.
