1. Apparently it was Oliver Wendell Holmes. I admit I hadn’t the faintest idea and googled it.

Ha – I have just finished a vampire book (By Midnight, very good) so it seems fitting that these questions today are about blood! I would have guessed the words to translate meant blood given #2, 4, and 5 were blood-related! But the quote, would never have known, and would have googled it if Alwyn hadn’t beaten me to it!

1) No idea, but getting caught ” red handed ” is a legal concept so I would bet it was a lawyer.

On discovering the answer to q1 am glad I adopted the keep silent and be thought stupid strategy as my guess was not even a bloody, pun intended, lawyer.
