Details make a difference

He came home from his first dog trial in great excitement.

He’d won the maiden class and another competition which had a prize of a couple of bags of dog biscuits.

HIs wife was suitably impressed until she learned the details – he was the only entrant in the maiden class and the other competition was guessing the combined weight of the trail secretaries.

    About forty years ago in NW Victoria an 80 year old Hereford breeder was the chief judge at the local A & P show.

    When he got to the end of the catalogue, he headed for the bar with the President who qietly told him ‘By the way there’s a late line not in the catalogue.” He guided the old boy out into the arena where the local bathing beauties were assembled and on display.

    Undaunted, the old Hereford picked up the mike and explained:-

    “I’ve never before judged livestock with the covers on and I’m too bloody old to start now.”
