But he only saw Auckland

Editor-in-chief of Monocle magazine Tyler Brûlé  wrote a column in praise of New Zealand and Australia in the Financial Times.

But he only saw Auckland.

Imagine how much more effusive his praise would have been had he travelled further afield!

I got the feeling that his arficle was written after aday day stay in Auckland making him an expert on New Zealand. By the way, did this person visit South Auckland ?. Auckland isn’t New Zealand, it’s just a big city inhabited by people who think it is New Zealand.
No different to making statements about Australia after being in Sydney or London for Great Britain.
New Zealand is the maori North Island and the scenic South Island. New Zealand is still essentially a rural nation in character.People having lattes in a restaurant can’t tell you much about the character of the NZ.

Well yeah. He at least could have stayed overnight in a camper van somewhere near Turangi.
