Biographer vs Banks

Paul Goldsmith, a former Auckland City Councillor who wrote John Banks’ boigraphy, has been selected as National’s candidate for Epsom.

Banks is Act’s candidate in that seat and unless the party’s dire polling improves in the next four months he will have to win the electorate to keep Act in parliament.

Once more the voters in Epsom will have a big say in Act’s future, the make up of the next parliament and possibly the next government.

The Epsom branch of the Nats chose their candidate after 2 or 3 ballots.
It’s a Darwinian process that throws up interesting results from time to time.
The campaign will be interesting to watch.
I don’t care what Kate for all her good pointd thinks.

Who cares what Cactus Kate thinks Robert Guyton?

‘Taint up to Cactus Kate to decide, it will be the registered voters in Epsom who will decide which is exactly how it should be.

Pity about the MMP complications though, whereby a strategic position for Mr goldsmith on National’s party list could lead to a distortion in the way Epsom voters actually cast their vote

Oh no,,,,. How could this be?

I wonder if such things have ever happened before?

I guess since such things trouble you Mr Guyton you’ll be joining me in the ballot box this November casting your vote to rid ourselves of the travesty we call MMP.

Only unimpressed part is that the delegates lied to Bhatnagar about the level of their support.

    But concluded that’s politics….

There were some 60 delegates. Rig that and you are something quite special.
