How can Labour spin the latest One News Colmar Brunton poll result? Let me count the ways:
1. Only one poll counts.
2. It’s a rogue poll.
3. We can pretend we didn’t leak details of the capital gains tax before polling was done.
4. Polling was done before the tax package was announced and that will be a game changer.
5. The tax policy is irrelevant because people aren’t interested in details.
6. Our supporters don’t have phones.
7. Our supporters are out/too busy when polling companies call.
8. Polling companies are owned by rich pricks.
9. We’ve got more than four months to turn things round.
10. We don’t comment on polls.

We got the call from Colmar Brumpton but it was for my wife, who had just come in the door from a day of relief teaching
She refused to answer, so if she is a Labour voter (who would know) 7 is correct
Just as well it wasn’t for me as my default position is to lie when asked personal questions at 5.45 pm

If the Poll had shown even a modest improvement for them, the Labour lot would be rejoicing form the roof-tops and opening metaphorical champagne magnums!

11. Robert Guyton thinks there will be a Greens/Labour/NZ First/Maori Party/Mana Party government, so it’s all sweet!

Tribal Nats rejoicing in Labour’s misfortunes need to get over themselves.
For the Nation as a whole it is not good that there is no one capable of holding the Nat’s feet to the fire.
It’s not as thought they are a particularly inspiring or competent bunch

Andrei – I agree a weak opposition isn’t good for democracy and Labour’s loss heling the Greens is concerning.
