Bother wasn’t bad enough

Three bankers, our accountant, two staff, my farmer and I were meeting this morning.

I was in charge of lunch for the eight of us when the meeting finished and had done all the preparations before it began.

All I had to do was mix the beaten egg whites with the rest of the roulade mixture and cook it as the meeting was coming to an end.

It would have worked too had I not knocked the bowl with the mixture off the bench.

Sometimes bother isn’t bad enough and this was definitely one of those times.

    Definitely a Toyota moment.
A colleague on a “return to station” trip where we talk the most disunited rubbish recently related an incident when living in a Dunedin Flat as a younger man, bringing home some takeaway in one of those sometimes ill fitting plastic containers, dropped it on the steep steps and before he could curse had scooped it back into the container. The steps must have been quite sanitary as there were no stones at consumption or dysentery later.
The floor was as clean of course and you intended to cook it or were there unwanted witnesses to the incident.

There were no witnesses but I wasn’t prepared to risk the consequences of scraping it up and cooking it. The meeting continued long enough for me to whip up a replacement.

Watties baked beans by any chance?
Sorry, Hp, couldn’t resist – I’m sure your culinary skills are better than that.
By the way, trust the meeting went well.

  4. Could you not have whipped the egg whites into a quick pav and served that up with a smile Ele?
(And here was me thinking bankers fed exclusively on cream.)

Fred – there has never been a can of baked beans in my house – cardboard covered in tomato sauce has never appealed to me.

The meeting did go well thanks.

Robert – I’d already mixed the egg whites with the rest of the mixture.

Diet of cream? Only the fat cat ones and they don’t visit us.

3 Bankers HP – we only went and visited clients in pairs or singly when I was in the BNZ many years ago.

Adam – these are senior staff and definitely on our side, as were the bankers.

PDM – maybe those were the good old days.
