E books are here

Whitcoulls has announced that E books are here and they’ve opened a brand new eBook store.

The Kobo eReader has 1G of memory, is capable of holding up to 1000 books and comes pre-loaded with 100 classic titles.

It costs $295.

Will I be buying one?

Not yet, but if I was planning a trip of more than a few days I’d be seriously considering it.

Worth it just for the 100 books included.

They are selling my first one too!

Just interested to know if the Kindle(Amazon.com) is available or is it coming to NZ ?
It sounds that all these systems will be incompatible to one another. A load of cobblers !!!!!

It is apparently stalled, due to our telecom providers wanting large amounts of cash for the download service.

You can download the viewer, Kindle for PC and use your computer to read them.

To get around the compatibility and backup/ reader replacement issue, all the ebook suppliers offer the books in several formats and allow multipe downloads once you have purchased a book.

Otherwise its VHS/beta/phillips all over again…
