Where will the money go?

When the Fonterra payout was at its peak three years ago it fuelled inflation on and off farm.

The news of an increased payout  for this season has been greeted with relief but the dairying grapevine suggests farmers will be conservative with the extra money.

The steep drop in payout following the peak taught us all a lesson about containing costs and reducing debt and those will be priorities for most of us.

It never ceases to amaze me that supposedly rational grown men and women who have been farming for twenty years or more are unable to remember lessons from longer ago than just five years.

    Try 1935, 1984, 1987, 1990, 1997 …………?

Roll on CGT on property INCLUDING farms. Then you might get cockies to pay tax instead of debt!!!!!

Perhaps the farmers could finally fence their streams and rivers?

Or build a runway for the pigs to land on?

Had a seminar with investment guru Yesterday,(definitely not an ‘advisor’ who along with an insightful comparison between economists and investors had some pearls of wisdom for businessmen and particularly Dairy farmers in the current climate.
