Great singer, great song.
Its hard to know who did it better Dusty Springfield or Dionne Warwick. Can’t find the latter on Youtube to compare now but I sure remember it. In fact if you had asked me who sung it I would have said Dionne Warwick because that’s the version I recall.
Hal David and Burt Bacharach surely wrote some outstanding songs and this is one of them.
I’m glad you chose this – if I had known we were getting Dusty Springfield tonight I would have bet on “Son of a Preacher Man”
Going way way back I remembered her singing “Silver Threads and Golden Needles” with the Springfields.
Youtube let me down again – there was no live version of this song but I did find this little treasure
Was she good or what?

Yes she was good, Andrei, though if you’d asked me who sang Island of Dreams I’d have said The Seekers.
I read somewhere today there’s a play/musical about Dustry touring NZ soon. Sorry, can’t remember where I read it.

I am with you HP – Judith Durham has a special voice.
mrs pdm and I had the pleasure of meeting the Seekers some years ago. We were checking out of the Duxton in Wellington at the same time they were and had about a 10 minute chat as we waited for our transport. Nice people.
