I feel so lucky to have lived through such a wonderful time in popular music. Lyrics that told a story and/ or a theme with music and rhythm one could easily dance to, musicals and film scores even a challenged vocalist could sing in the shower.
Many of the memorable tunes in the memory banks are associated with a significant other or event such as a bonfire on a riverbed with a portable 45 record player or better still live music. Mostly the only drugs were the music and on rare occasions a few beers which allowed the memory to be retained and enjoyed and not addled by bzp, p, coke(not the brown liquid), meth( we used that to light the “tilly” lamp), speed (cars didn’t manage that either), H or opium (read about that somewhere).
They were “the best of times” and nostalgia is wonderful. For me the lists above are a trip down memory lane and my own contribution would include; Memories are made of this, Stairway to heaven, Laras theme, most of the score of South Pacific, Come my love with me, a big dose of Elvis, Sinatra, aah such memories.
And an electronic red rose for you Ele for the pleasure your rural based, blue tinted, down to earth, entertaining blog brings to me every day.
