I’d never do it but I’d like to

If I’d been asked to name the best film ever when I was a child I’d have had no hesitation in saying The Great Race.

I found it on DVD and watched it again a few years ago and was reminded of one of the reasons I’d liked it so much – the food fight.

The idea of throwing custard pies and other squishy dishes really appeals, but the thought of wasting good food and the mess that would have to be cleaned up afterwards would stop me trying it.

It will stay as one of the items on the list of things I’d like to do but won’t and because of that I’ll have to keep  getting my food fight fun vicariously through films.

I hate to disillusion you Ele but they use shaving foam for food fights in movies.

    Other possibly interesting movie factoids

    (1) Mashed potato for ice cream

    (2) cold tea for whiskey

    (3) Crystallized sugar is used to make windows to fall through.

  2. JC says:

The hardcase moment for me is when Maggie is making breakfast and calls out “Come and get it!”.. the two villains look at each other and say “Maybe she dont mean us!”

  3. Hey – like Andrei’s comment! Have never seen “The Great Race” – might just have to sit down with some cold tea and mashed potatoes (or maybe wine and chips – to be consumed not thrown) and have a look!

Aww, Andrei, I didn’t want to know that.

JC – must be time to rewatch it, I’d forgotten that scene.

Kate, it’s a good family film – and the main female character is a journalist.
