Last week I didn’t know the All Whites were playing a test to decide if they got to the World Cup or not.
Nor did I know about the NZ Match racing champs and that Tiger Woods was playing golf in Melbourne.
You’re welcome to educate me on what’s happened in sport since then or will be happening in the coming week.
My attention will be on Victorian sports – the national penny farthing championships tomorrow and the world stone sawing championships on Sunday – all part of Oamaru’s Victorian heritage celebrations.
Lets try you on cricket HP. A test in Dunedin next week against Pakistan as I understand it.
An interesting team selected but no Southee and I thought Franklin was touted as the replacement for hypochondriac Oram. Tuffey and O’Brien are trundlers compared to the potential of Southee who it seems is bowling very well at the start of the season. Hard to follow.
Good to see 2metre Peter Fulton back but no Sinclair again. Obviously the selectors like the `hit and hope’ of Guptil who is yet to get past 50 in 9 tests.

I went to a cricket game in Duneidn once. Not sure if it was a one-day match or the last day of a test, but we won.
Just home from a rugby match played with 1901 rules – post on that tomorrow.

I bet the rugby game was better to watch than the rubish served up under current laws. I will also bet no one was injured from rucking.

You win your bet – but one player was arrested and as some were more oldie than golden they may be feeling a wee bit sore tomorrow.

If someone was arrested are you sure you weren’t at a Rugby League game by mistake?

Can we get one thing straight, the All Whites did not play a test match.
Unfortunately it seems that in NZ every time an international team is played we want to call it a test match.
Sorry am in GOM mode today.

I stand corrected, Adam. For future reference could you please explain when a game between teams of different countries is a test and when it isn’t?
