Shocking wins Melbourne Cup

Shocking, trained by Mark Kavanagh and ridden by Corey Brown, has won the 149th Melbourne Cup.

Irish horses Crime Scene and Mourilyan came second and third.

Just as well I hadn’t put any money on my picks. Maybe next year I’ll use Richard’s method.

Yes, almost everyone on Earth knows who won the Melbourne Cup.

Why do you state such an obvious?

Poneke – it’s my blog and I’ll state the obvious if I want to.

HP: From me: thanks for posting this… I was in the office with clients and did not see or hear the race. When I logged on to H’Paddock, following the meeting it was the first I heard who had won. (Mind I still did not know the horse… perhaps it was an equus sinister…)
And the good news was that I lost nothing on the race… With an office of one, sweepstakes aren’t as exciting as when I was with the corporates…

I hereby announce my retirement – uterly defeated – as a Melbourne Cup tipster and race previewer.

Poneke – shove off and stay away. HP runs an excellent blog and we do not need idiots like you visiting and making inane comments.

Quick! Quick! You haven’t commented yet on David Farrar getting only eight out of 10 in the latest Stuff quiz.

    You’re slipping.
