    It was this tune by this man which finally decided for me that I was never destined to become a lead guitarist… my lot would be as a finger picker and rhythm guitarist. My decision was sorely regretted when I saw a young Geordie named Mark Knopfler with Dire Straits in their first London gig at the Catford Odeon when we were first exposed to a new breed of lead guitarist. He could fingerpick, play lead, and everything else all on one Fender Strat!
    For a long time I wore the Hank Marvin glasses… talk about cool!!!
    (Mind you I can still do a passable version of Perfidia!)
    Hope pdm’s attendance at Sir Cliff and the Shads was a great night!

    Cliff was good but both Mrs pdm and I thought The Shadows really made the show.
