Rubbishing junk mail

I’ve just picked up the mail – one news paper, two invitations, several invoices and seven bits of junk mail.

I dumped the junk mail into the rubbish bin unread.

If it had come electronically it would have been contrary to anti-spam laws.

What’s the difference between electronic spam and the paper variety?

  1. Interesting question. I personally adore junk mail in my letter box, but agree that I’m a hypocrite when it comes to things in my email inbox. Perhaps it’s the allure of glossy photos?

  2. Marking your mailbox with Addressed Mail Only should do the trick. Even the real estate agents are beginning to play ball on that.

Will – if we did that we wouldn’t get the give away papers like Farmers Weekly which we want.

We don’t have a problem with receiving junk mail, even although we have the appropriate ‘No Junk Mail, Please” sign next to the ‘Beware of the Dog’ sign. The delivery of these papers provide work for people who have limited employment opportunities, they are all recycled, and they are good for fire lighting. Trees are a renewable resource, so while disturbed about how many trees are sacrificed, that too provides on-going and sustainable work opportunities. Also we get the suburban newspaper which I certainly don’t read on line like the rest of the big ‘uns I read.
Now those bills…. that’s another matter!
ps In the South Island on a case tomorrow, so I hope your weather treats us well for up North boys!

It provides employment for designers, photographers, printers, ink and paper manufacturers and whoever delivers it? Personally, I have a no junk mail sign and send the few amounts of junk mail I get back to the sender, marked “return to sender”. I never get one twice.
