Can he do it?

Winston Peters told Q&A he plans to stand for parliament in 2011.

Can he do it?

No party has managed to get into parliament without a sitting MP since MMP was introduced in 1996.

To do so will be expensive and he won’t be able to travel at the taxpayers’ expense as he has been able to in all the previous elections?

To do so will open him to questions over past mis-deeds which have yet to be answered.

To do so requires the support of only 5% of voters who believe what he says and don’t care about what he’s done.

Unlikely that Winston will resurrect again.
People will soon forget that man while his supporters will disappear through old age.
Winston is a fraud and people know that.

  2. Tired Farmer says:

Neil-perhaps Winston may have a future in Local Government?.

  3. pdm says:

Was he asked the leading question?

When will he pay back the $158,000 he owes NZ taxpayers and if he was – what was the answer?

  4. Tony says:

I thought past MPs could still travel at the taxpayer’s expense, depending on the number of years as an MP?

  5. homepaddock says:

pdm – the question wasn’t asked. If you click on the link in the post you can read the transcript.

Tony – I think that applies to overseas flights not any domestic travel – but I’m open to correction.
