  1. JC says:

    “4 – 10 Ummm?”

Dosen’t matter what I chose, they were all good at the party house at Blackball, Reefton in 1965!

A hard days night and Eight days a week for the party nights but traveling a distance at night made whimsical Norwegian Wood more suited to the mood.. they had a song for most occasions.

  2. Paul Tremewan says:

There is an internet radio station which just plays their music (and by other artists). How good is that!! Check out While My Guitar Gently Weeps by Hawaiian ukulele virtuoso Jake Shimabukuro: brilliant!! on You Tube. I ran the Honolulu marathon with him a couple of years back, y’know, except at the finish he played for all 28,000 of us at the prize giving!!

  3. homepaddock says:

JC – they’d broken up by the time I was going to parties but I still remember dancing to their music.

Paul – you’re the reigning quiz champion and a marathon runner!

Its hard there is so much to choose from

The Beatles transcend generations my son Nik who is a music student and has a band (of sorts)is a fan

“Strawberry Fields” is a favorite of us both. Funnily enough we were discussing this one in the car on the way home from school tonite and get this – he reckoned he had introduced me to this song. I had to convince him I had first heard it years and years before he was born

  5. MacDoctor says:

Excuse me!?? Where is Revolution? Lucy in the Sky with diamonds? Come Together?

Who chose “across the universe”? (worst Beatles song ever)

And, I’m sorry, HP, but I never could take to a song whose lyrics chiefly consisted of naah, naah, naah, naah, naah, naah, naah, naah, naah, naah, naah, hey, Jude sung 8,000 times…

  6. homepaddock says:

MAcD – It’s not just the song it’s the memories that go with it.

Can I add Let It Be to your “Where is . . . “

  7. Paul Tremewan says:

HP Yes,but not as fast a marathoner as the ZB Farming Show host, Jamie McKay. These types of mini-threads are always fun, with all those opinions. It’s like trying to identify the ideal length of a piece of string! Also it’s a bit easier to do this for Beatles songs, rather than the game of identifying the best song Bob Dylan ever wrote [ Which is ‘Blind Willie McTell’, by the way] !! Dylan Jake Shimabukuro While My Guirtar Gently Weeps

  8. Matt Nolan says:

I put down my top 5 a while back (

    1) Within you without you
    2) Norwegian Wood
    3) Revolution
    4) We can work it out
    5) Come together

Next five would be tough, but I imagine that she’s so heavy and while my guitar gently weeps will be in there 😀
