Better in blue

My father used to listen to every Budget on the radio.

Those were the days when the government controlled a lot more of the economy and the Budget had a lot more impact on day to day life than it does now.

That it doesn’t is a change for the better and there’s no longer the big winners and losers there used to be.

A series of pre-budget announcements have revealed some of the bigger items this Thursday’s Budget will contain, however, one thing hasn’t changed, only a select few know the fine detail of what’s in it.

But whatever the Budget holds, it’ll be covered in blue and delivered by Bill English which will make it so much better than it would have been, if  it had a red cover and was delivered by one of the people who over-taxed and over-spent in the last nine.

Quite so Ele – the sight of Michael Cullen’s annual lolly-grab had become somewhat nauseating.

So true – red always strikes me as an angry colour, blue is so much more reassuring.
