Ron Mark standing in Rimutaka?

Ruminations on whether or not New Zealand First remains in parliament have generally focussed on Peters winning Tauranga or the party gaining 5% of the vote.

But Big News says that Ron Mark is standing in Rimutaka.

If he is, could he win and keep the party in parliament regardless of what happens to Peters?

Hat Tip: Big News.

Rimutaka is being vacated by Paul Swain. Who is the Labour candidate? Is this the “soft seat” for NZ First.

The Labour candidate is Chris Hipkins, the National candidate is Richard Whiteside.

If Rodney Hide can do it for ACT, why not Ron Mark keeping NZ First alive? He’s probably NZ first only decent politician, despite his wayward middle finger.

Of course, his biggest problem won’t be the Labour candidate at Rimutaka; it’s the dead-weight known as Winston. He will deserve to get back into parliament if he manages to perform a Winstonectomy without killing his patient.

  4. Whiteside is at around 65 on list which is not exactly a stunning endorsement. Hipkins is 30.

NZ First only got 1700 odd votes last time. http://2005.electionresults.govt.nz/electorate-45.html

methinks he will be in with a fair chance but will miss out. He is not the party leader and will have more people choosing to vote against nzf than supporting him
