Labour offers nothing to vote for

As the election campaign grinds to a close Labour’s getting more and more negative.

They’ve never promoted their leader which is understandable given his lack of traction and the tenuous hold he has on the position.

They’ve stopped talking about their policies, and given how ill-conceived most are, that’s understandable too.

All they’ve got left is negativity.

They’re throwing it all at John Key and a single National policy, the plan to sell up to 49% of a very few state owned companies which they’re misrepresenting as a fire sale of state assets.

They’re leaving us in no doubt what they’re against. But they’re offering nothing positive to vote for except more debt and unstable government when uncertainty around the world dictates the need to reduce debt which requires a strong, stable government.

The choice is clear between positivity, strength and stability or negativity, weakness and instability.

A good summary of their pathetic campaign Ele.
Have a rewarding Election day and good luck that sanity will prevail.

Simply not true, Ele. It’s a wonder to me that you can say such things with what I presume must be a straight face but I guess in your position as a broadcaster of the National Party message, you are honour-bound to keep the faith and stay on-message.
Did you watch the leaders’ debates, I wonder, and think to yourself, “Phil Goff is presenting himself as a very capable politician here?”, or did you simply hold to the meme that has been built around him over the past 3 years, ‘goofy, weak and hopeless’?
Did you watch John Key and wonder at his lack of dominance? Could you see it, or were you so enchanted that he remained ‘the winner on the night’?
It’s a very interesting time, just now. I genuinely wonder if the indications that National will romp home will prove correct, or that people will vote more cautiously once they are alone in the booth? Won’t be long til we find out.
All things considered, New Zealand has been subject to an incredible run of bad luck over the past three years, hasn’t it. The moment Key fell from the stage at the Chinese New Year celebration and broke his arm, there were people saying it would be a ‘disastrous’ term and that proved to be correct.
On a lighter note, we had a Thanksgiving feast last night, hosted by an American family in Riverton – loooong table, groaning under the weight of turkey, dishes of pumpkin pie, cherry pie, apple and plum pie, eggnog and punch and extraordinary cornucopia made from bread and filled with vegetables that spilled out in a very abundant manner. People sang and played ukulele, our hosts recited the history of Thanksgiving and wore native American headdresses and we all crossed our fingers for a surprise result in tomorrows election :-)
If that does happen,Ele, you’ll hear me crowing all the way from Riverton :-)

Yes a good summary Ele. Labour are the pits. All the scaremongering – you may not see baby’s first birthday, Goff’s police da da –. They are not a nice party. Its two elections now when they have resorted to dirt.
The MSM have lost their way remaining uncritical falsehoods and the team at TV3 making their own news. Thank goodness for blogs of every political persuasion, that has allowed the individuals to make their own judgement.
I am dreaming now, but can we not have a law at election time that says political figures are obliged support their statements with credible independent evidence?
