4/10 in the NZ Herald’s travel quiz - but I reckon they’re going the long way from Timaru to Milton to get the answer they give as the right one for that question.

I think Hwy 8 starts at Washdyke, through Twizel, Lindis Pass, Alexandra, Roxburgh etc.. (or in reverse) so the answer is fair. is it Clarkville junction south of Milton where it ends?
6/10 – that was hard
Cadwallader – You’re right about the route and it is Clarkville Junction where it ends. It’s a scenic drive but it’s going about three times the distance as the direct route down SH1.
John – I’ve found the degree of difficulty of a quiz depends on how many answers you know and agree this one was hard.
7 for me with a few guesses. I would have thought SH1 for the Timaru/Milton question but as it wasn’t an option I had no idea.A couple of lucky guesses helped my score.
