What were they trying to sell?

ANZ took down  billboards  in Auckland and Wellington after a single complaint.

The offending slogan was: “In a perfect world, your son would grow up. And your daughter wouldn’t.”

What does that mean?

What were they trying to sell?

Who was stupid enough to think that was a good phrase to sell it?

    Only one comlaint!
That is so offensive for so many reasons it makes Paul Henry look…….human…rather than a shaved ape

Yes. When I saw the sign, I immediately wondered what a parent who had lost a son or daughter would feel about it.

But even taken in the sense it was originally intend – that men are always immature and girls grow up too quickly – it is offensive to both sexes. To men for implying we never grow up. To women for implying that they turn into harridans when they mature.

My personal reaction was to be disgusted that they couldn’t come up with something less hacknied and stereotyped.
