That’s interesting, HP. Hamartia is the greek word used in the New Testament for sin (possibly still appropriate in the Rodney context!). It means, literally, “to miss the mark” (as does the word “sin” – which is a 16th century archery term meaning to miss the bullseye).
Perhaps there is no greater character flaw than to miss what you are trying to attain solely because you don’t stick to your principles….
