    I had star at étoile, and Newton was my first reaction.

    Regarding the cow – I can only give you a bum steer on that one, and I’d guess it comes from Africa, but never seen one before.

    As for number 2, Heck, I’d go with my Staple guess of Clive. Although when Clive fails, Twain often works.

    Number 5 I draw a blank. That may seem a little rank, but modern poetry is an empty tank.

    1. Do not know the name. But I saw one for the first time while being diverted around Oamaru during flooding a few months ago. It was wearing short gumboots just like the pic- look at the front legs.
    2-5 no idea- too difficult.
