1 A loose pronunciation of oanaka place of anaka a local chief
2 Ad Libetum means to me “off the cuff” “without preperation” Apologies and credit to Ted Bennet And The Dowling Brothers”

As an aside are you attempting to have a second celebration with the haggis and the Whiskey on the 25th of June. I am fortunate that Mrs GD celebrates the 25th June as her B.Day but don’t mention the Haggis as she’s of the southerners, English that is, my love does however enjoy most things Scottish just not The Haggis.

  2. homepaddock says:

    Typo corrected,thanks.

January 25th is Burns night, but what’s the Scottish link to June 25th? (In spite of my tartan genes the pleasures of both haggis and whisky/whiskey escape me so I won’t be partking of either regardless of what’s to be celebrated).

  3. Bearhunter says:

    1 Anaka’s place.

2 Ad libitum – meaning at your pleasure.

    3 I’m afraid haven’t a baldy.

4 We hae meat and we can eat, so let the lord be thnakit (Burn’s grace)

2 My 6th form UE Latin is recalled; ad libitum: meaning go freely.. make it up!!
3 Desmond Bagley.. if not him try Len Dreighton
4 Robbie Burns, can’t remember the next two lines, but I will always remember the words as our skipper Chay Blyth recited them as we celebrated Hogmanay in the Southern Ocean on the Round the World Yacht race between NZ and Cape Horn!!
5.. Definitely ‘s’, and possibly ‘a’ and if one was dyslexic then it could be anything….

ps a a former full back for the London Italian rugby team, I have to say that I would have enjoyed todays 1-all victory no matter who won!!
